OROK is a local chapter of Our Revolution for central Oklahoma. OR is built upon the success of Bernie Sanders’ historic presidential campaign, and is growing with the support of grassroots organizers like you.  Our Revolution was founded in 2017 to carry on the values and agenda of the Bernie Sanders’ 2016 presidential campaign. OROK became an official chapter that year.

Becoming a member of OROK is a vital part of realizing the political revolution in Oklahoma!

Bylaws and board of directors were voted on and approved in August 2017. OROK was incorporated as a 501(c)4 organization with the State of Oklahoma in August as well.

General membership meetings are held four times a year, and committee work proceeds constantly. We also have occasional social events, networking meetings and outreach opportunities throughout the community. Anyone who shares our values and goals is encouraged to join and get involved. There are many activities with which to work with like-minded activists to achieve our goals.

The following letter from OROK’s board chair provides a status report for our early days as an organization.

Fellow Progressives:

Our Revolution Oklahoma, the central Oklahoma affiliate of Our Revolution, is off to an encouraging start. We have organized, obtained a charter from the state, elected leaders and applied for tax status with the IRS. But the important work lies ahead.

We have formed four committees: Endorsement and Candidate Recruitment, Ballot Initiatives, Transforming the Party, and Outreach/Communications. These committees are actively advancing a progressive agenda for Oklahoma, but need additional committed activists like you to increase and expand our efforts.

You are invited to our next membership meeting on December 12, 2017 at 6:30 p.m. at the Teamsters Hall, 3528 W. Reno Ave, Oklahoma City. There you can learn more and determine how you can engage in the political revolution of our time!

With the 2018 electoral season upon us, we have invited two Oklahoma gubernatorial candidates — former state Senator Connie Johnson and former Attorney General Drew Edmondson — to speak to us on that evening, part of an endorsement process that will be decided by a vote of eligible members. (Up to three candidates endorsed by OROK will have an opportunity to have that endorsement considered at the national level.)

To be a voting member of Our Revolution Oklahoma, you must have either (1) signed in at two or more of our local events or (2) donated any amount to the local affiliate. I urge you to consider a contribution of $27, the now iconic figure that was the average donation to Bernie Sanders’ presidential campaign.

We are considering several ideas for statewide or municipal ballot initiatives. We will have a thoughtful approach to backing a few candidates. We need your help.

Please consider supporting our grassroots efforts by JOINING, DONATING and PARTICIPATING at the committee level. Use the links below to get involved.

Together we can, and will, bring Oklahoma closer to economic and political justice.

In solidarity,
Mark Henricksen, Chair
